As you may know many
children are afraid from the hospital. Being afraid make them nervous and
increase the number of a difficult care as the use of anesthesia. To face this problem
some healthcare specialists and video game developer in collaboration with
associations as the Red Cross have developed a serie of serious games. Those
games are called Hospigame.
The initial game is a funny guided tour for children. The child and the parents get a tablet while entering the hospital and will have a guided tour with augmented reality mini doctors showing the waiting room, the room for care, the room for surgery, etc. You scan QR codes on posters and doctor dresses and got a peaceful visit to the places in the hospital. This will decrease the stress of children and help to make the operations smoother.
An operation that children especially dislike is a blood test. To make this operation less stressful a serious game for tablet has been developed where the child can play and foresee all the steps of the operation and understand the utility. This game allows the child to be much more relaxed during a real blood test.
Another game called the "Magic screen" has been developed to decrease the pain and stress of children before and during an operation.
This latest game
uses augmented reality and works with symbolism and hypnosis. The child can put
a virtual butterfly on the nose of his father or her mother for example. As a
result, the parent will laugh and it will decrease the stress. The child seeing
that the parent is more relax will also be more relaxed.
In addition to that, you can use an AR (augmented reality) firetruck to throw water on the places of your bodies that are hurting.
The "Magic Screen" game has received
a clinical study and show that it allows reducing the stress and pain of
children by 2 as the associated costs.
